Host families

Living English, not just learning it

Our students don't stay in a residence. They live as part of a local family, eating together, chatting about the day and joining in with everyday Irish life.

Each student shares with at least one student of another nationality, so English is the language of home too. Weekdays are busy with lessons and activities; Sundays are relaxed family days with the hosts.

Finding the right family

Matched around your child

We don't assign rooms at random. Adi matches every student personally, using what you tell us.

Step 1

Tell us about them

Allergies, diets, whether they're happy around dogs or cats, and any friend or sibling they'd like to share with.

Step 2

We find the match

Adi chooses a family that suits your child and pairs them with a student of another nationality.

Step 3

Meet them early

You receive the host family's details at least three weeks before arrival, so your child can say hello first.

Arrival

Straight to the door

Free weekend transfers from Cork or Kerry airports take students directly to their host family.

The practical bits

What parents usually ask

Rooms

Usually shared

Most students share a room with their housemate from another country. Single rooms are rarely available, so we can't guarantee one.

Getting to school

Walk, bus or lift

Students staying in Cahersiveen town walk to school. Others take our school bus or are dropped in by their host family.

Laundry

Taken care of

Host families do students' laundry as part of the stay, so there's no need to pack for the whole trip.

Meals

Full board

All meals are included. Tell us about allergies or special diets when you book; a gluten-free diet is €25 per week.

“I just had the best holidays of my life. The family was perfect, I was talking a lot with them… I learned a lot of things while having fun.”
